Hefei Ion Medical Center (HIMC)

Project Location: Hefei, China

This 365,000 square foot proton therapy center is located in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. HIMC is a key player in the development of domestically produced proton therapy technology, aiming to establish a world-class radiotherapy platform.

Completed in 2020, the first phase consists of a 4-story comprehensive cancer center including 3 Varian ProBeam gantries, 2 Linacs, 40 in-patient beds, and a suite of diagnostic CT, MRI, and other imaging equipment. The second phase was pre-planned into the development and will be home to China’s first carbon therapy center.

Work previously completed by John Jessen as Principal Architect with Architect-of-Record VOA Associates (now Stantec).
